The littlest love in our house turned one this past weekend! I truly can’t believe that she has already been here a year. It seems like last month we were in the hospital introducing her to our friends and family. All I can say is that it has been the best year of my life.
Even though it was only her 1st birthday, and I know she won’t remember it, birthdays have always meant a lot to me. I wanted to make sure that we made her birthday as special as possible. We spent the entire weekend swinging, eating waffles & ice-cream, playing ball, and even visiting some puppies! (She wasn’t too keen on them, so I don’t think we will be getting one anytime soon.) We bought her 4 balloons, and within 20 minutes of having them, 3 popped. So that’s always fun. But, she did learn how to feed herself this weekend with a spoon! You win some you lose some I guess.
Over this past year I’ve learned that having a baby takes a lot of work, and a lot of planning. We didn’t neccessarliy have the luxury of the second. She was born before we had “planned” to have children. There were times that I was worried about what people would think, since we were so young and didn’t have the rest of our lives planned out. You know what though? She is the best thing that could’ve happened to us. Because of her, we have been more intentional. Because of her we have pursued our dreams more fervently. Because of her, we have given so much thought and pursuit into where we want to be in the next few years.Because of her, we are much further in life than we would have been otherwise. She has been our catalyst. Not only has she pushed us to be on track for where we want to be, but she has made life a lot more fun on the way too. It just goes to show that we have no idea what we need, but that a lot of times, the hardest and scariest things end up being what’s best for us.
We are going to continue celebrating this weekend with Faye’s baptism and actual birthday party. I can’t wait to celebrate this special weekend with our friends and family! I’ve also decided that I’m going to be posting her birth story and pictures from the hospital here soon. But today, we are snuggling up on this rainy day and watching movies with Esther. Happy Tuesday!
