This weekend Goodman had the opportunity to go on a trip with some of his brothers and cousins on a golf trip. Due to different circumstances (hmm hmm, me having a baby last year), and other things, he hasn’t been able to go the past few years. This year we decided to make it a point that he would for sure be able to go on this golf retreat.
Because Goodman was going to be gone, my mom (Momma Lisa to Faye), graciously agreed to come up for the latter half of the week and this weekend in order to hang with us girls. I was so pumped. Not only has she been a huge help since this was my first week back to school, but I now have someone I can drink wine with and watch romantic comedies! Doesn’t get much better than that.
Anway, today the 3 of us packed up and headed to the lake for the day. It was sweet being able to share a piece of our everyday lives with and experience that with her. After we came home and let the little peanut nap, we ate dinner and then headed up to Downtown Woodstock. On the 1st Friday of every month they do these big block parties, so we headed that way to walk around and in hopes of finding something sweet.
As we were walking around, we stumbled upon this little bakery that I had never been to before. It’s called The Pie Bar. It is exactly what it sounds like. A hole in the wall establishment that serves handcrafted pies and coffee. They have everything from traditional blueberry pie to Bourbon Chocolate Pecan, and their menu changes daily. And no this is not too good to be true.
It was so cute, and the pie was so freaking good. We got the Banana-Coconut Cream Pie. We split one piece between the 3 of us (and let’s be honest, Faye counts as a about 2 people when it comes to anything sweet), and it was perfect. Big ole hearty slices. The banana was so creamy and fresh, while the whip cream on top was light and fluffy. Mmm. I could take another piece with a cup of coffee right about now. It was delightful to say the least.
One thing I really love about this place is the atmosphere. Despite the size, it is very welcoming and homy. It is a place that makes you want to stay a while. Places like that can be hard to come by, but now that I know about it, I think it will be hard to keep us away ?
Well, I hope you all enjoy your Saturday! Today I think our plan is to hit the Farmer’s Market and probably grab a honey lavender latte while we are out. I can’t quite get enough of those things these days!
